It says in 2 Corinthians 5 that God has reconciled you to Himself and that He is not holding your sin against you.
The only way you can be empowered by God to become all that He wants for you to be, is when you understand that He will not hold it against you when you fail to live up to His expectations.
Think about it for a minute. God created the earth, the universe, the human body, mathematics and science. He definitely deserves a Nobel Peace Prize and other humanitarian awards. He is perfect, sinless, pure, holy and all-powerful. So, whatever little thing you’re working on right now; maybe you’re trying to overcome a sinful habit, develop character, become a better steward of God’s money, a better parent or spouse, or maybe you’re trying to do business God’s way or become a Godly leader. It doesn’t matter how good or successful you are, you are not going to meet God’s expectations; He’s God! Compared to Him we are all failures.
Our Heavenly Father created us and then gave us laws, principles and instructions on how humanity is to function in the earth and we’ve all dropped the ball one way or the other. But because He is so perfect and complete He can look past our failure to get it all right, love us unconditionally and not hold it against us. Jesus did not die so that God could love us. He died to remove the guilt and condemnation we feel when we fail that keeps us from receiving His love.
God loves you and accepts you whether you meet His expectations or not. That in turn causes you to do better because you want to, not because you have to. Christianity is not about right doing, it’s about right believing. Right believing will always lead to right doing and not because you have to but because you can’t help yourself. It’s called bearing fruit.
